Well it depends on what you are looking for. For general beach activities with plenty of people I suggest starting in Sydney and moving up to mid Queensland. This is a mid tropical area good most of the year. If youy are after spectacular vistas, rock formations and fishing then best to start neer Melbourne and work your way around to Talia Caves in western South Australia.
